The Experiential Management Program for Innovation, Revitalization and Entrepreneurship (EMPIRE) Initiative pairs Peter J. Tobin College of Business (Tobin) students at St. John’s University with local small enterprises through our established 3-credit Management Consulting course. This innovative partnership converts classroom learning into real-world impact by combining rigorous student consulting with potential catalytic grant funding.
What You'll Receive:
10 weeks of free consulting from a dedicated team of 4-6 business students
Professional analysis and recommendations focused on a project selected by the business
Faculty supervision ensuring quality deliverables
Potential grant funding of $3,000-$10,000 for validated projects (not guaranteed)
Timeline:
August 2026: Businesses apply with a proposed project
September-December 2026: Students work with selected businesses
Early December: Final presentation and comprehensive strategic report
Eligibility Requirements:
Independently owned business with annual revenue typically at lower end of $1M-$5M
Minimum 2 years revenue-positive operating history
Located in Queens, Long Island, or nearby Manhattan
Clear project focus (not general working capital needs)
