Vincentians Launch Plans for 400th Centenary Celebration
The year 2025 marks a significant milestone in the life of the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentians) as the global religious community celebrates 400 years since its formal founding. In anticipation of this celebration, the worldwide Vincentian family and St. John’s University are focusing on prayer, reflection, discernment, and programming to increase awareness of the impactful and enduring Vincentian charism.

At the end of 2023, members of St. John’s University’s Vincentian Mission Certificate (VMC) cohort traveled to the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA, where the Eastern Province of the Congregation of the Mission (also known as the Vincentians) is located, to tour various holy sites and social service agencies—but more importantly, to witness the beating heart of the Vincentian community on the East Coast.

Foundation Day Liturgy Celebrates Origin of Vincentian Charism
St. Vincent de Paul was filled with a passion to meet the material and spiritual needs of persons who were poor. With a talent for organizing others who shared his passion, he began a group of priests and Brothers—the Congregation of the Mission—for the evangelization of the poor and the formation of the clergy.
