Twentieth Annual President’s Dinner Raises Record Amount for Scholarships
St. John’s University’s 20th Annual President’s Dinner raised a record $3,302,597 in scholarship funds that will directly benefit the University’s most deserving students—especially those with financial need.

10 under 10: Young Alumni Make a Difference
As a Catholic and Vincentian University, St. John’s teaches students that knowledge is especially meaningful when used to make the world a better place. This view is evident in the achievements of the 10 graduates profiled below. Though they earned their degrees less than a decade ago, they are already having a positive impact at work and in their communities.

Staten Island Campus Library Opening Reception "Renaissance: Five Years After Sandy"
You are cordially invited to the Opening Reception at the Loretto Memorial Library, the Staten Island Campus on Saturday, October 21st, 2-5p.m. Five years ago Hurricane Sandy devastated Staten Island. The resilience of Island residents is exemplified by images on display in this exhibit. Despite the pockets of abandoned houses and half-completed shoreline projects, there has been recovery as well. Development and population growth are evident Island-wide. All the works on display are created by members of the Creative Photographers Guild and St. John’s University students of Professor Frisch-Cherniak.

McCallen and Loughlin Members Enjoy Star Wars Concert
The McCallen and Loughlin Societies brought their “Vincentian Force” to meet the energy field projected by “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back—in Concert” at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts on September 27, 2017.

St. John’s Soccer Programs Recognized with Team Academic Award
Speaking to the standout nature of the Red Storm student athlete both on the field and in the classroom, the St. John’s men’s and women’s soccer programs have both been honored by the United Soccer Coaches with the organization’s team academic award for 2016-17.

Distinguished CLACS Alumnus Discusses Cultural Studies and Global Change at SJU
On Friday, September 22, 2017, Malcolm A. Compitello, Ph.D., ‘68C, ‘70G delivered the lecture, “From the Classroom to the World and Back Again: Cultural Studies as Mediator of Curricular and Global Change.” The event took place at 1:30 p.m. in the Global Language and Culture Center (GLCC) on the Queens Campus. Alina Camacho-Gingerich, Ph.D., Professor of Spanish and Chair of both the Department of Languages and Literatures and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS), organized the event and presented Dr. Compitello with a plaque from the department for his accomplishments.
