Over 700 Staten Island Students Visit CareerCon 2018 at St. John’s University Staten Island Campus
On Monday, February 26, over 700 Staten Island high school students spent a beautiful day at St. John’s University, Staten Island, participating in CareerCon 2018. Ninety-five employers set up tables in the gym for a career fair that informed students about internship and summer job opportunities. Representatives of the businesses and agencies helped students understand the range of careers that are available to them and the education and skills required to pursue those careers

Staten Island Campus and CANVAS Institute Present Pan-African Library Launch
The CANVAS Institute and St. John’s University celebrated Black History Month with the launch of a Pan-African Library and Pan-African Library Book Catalogue on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 3 p.m. on the Staten Island campus. The launch of the library provides the Staten Island community with a unique resource to explore Pan-Africanism, and to celebrate Black history.

Celebrated Graduate Student Wins Third Major Award
After winning the prestigious Jeannette K. Watson Undergraduate Fellowship and being selected for the the Native American Congressional Internship Program by the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation, Trevor Farland ‘17C has been chosen as an American Political Science Association Minority Fellow for 2018-2019. The APSA Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) provides a letter in support of the fellow’s application for doctoral study in political science and a $4,000 award dispersed in $2,000 increments, once at the beginning of the first year of doctoral study and again before the second year of doctoral study in political science. Now in its 49th year, the fellowship is a distinguished honor in the political science discipline.
English Professor Receives National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship
Nicole R. Rice, Ph.D., a Professor of English at St. John’s University, has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Fellowship to complete a book-length study on the ways that medieval hospitals contributed to early English literature and culture.
St. John’s Students Join in Advocacy Day
Students from St. John’s University joined a delegation of more than 1,000 students from across New York State to advocate before the New York State Legislature during the annual Student Aid Alliance Advocacy Day held on February 13 in Albany, NY.
University Announces New Doctor of Professional Studies in Homeland Security
Responding to the growing need for a new generation of leaders in the field of homeland security—and the professionals who will educate them—St. John’s University’s College of Professional Studies has launched a Doctor of Professional Studies in Homeland Security program, to begin in the Fall 2018 semester.
