To mark the end of the 2025–26 academic year at St. John’s University and to support the next generation of legal professionals, Edmond (Ted) J. Pryor, Esq. ’86SJC, ’89J.D., welcomed students, alumni, faculty, administrators, and staff to his scenic City Island home for an intimate reception. With the backdrop of the scenic Long Island Sound, it was a celebration that brought together the St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences community.
Students and alumni primarily from the Bronx and Westchester, NY, areas gathered for an evening of connection, conversation, and reflection. “Spending time with them was nothing short of inspiring: a powerful reminder of exactly why so many of us continue to give our time, talent, and treasure to this University,” said Teresa Delgado, Ph.D., Dean, St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Professor, Theology and Religious Studies. “Their passion, promise, and potential are the heartbeat of St. John’s, and evenings like this renew our commitment to making sure they have every opportunity to thrive.”
The event also helped build momentum for the new St. John’s College Pre-Law Fund, which seeks to address inequities in law school preparation and the application process.
“Like a lot of Bronx residents, my sisters and I grew up hanging out on City Island,” shared Desiree Sukhram ’20SJC, ’21M.S. “It was a pleasure to attend a St. John’s event so close to home and share the experience with others from the wider University community. The event truly reflected the spirit of St. John’s.”
“It was a fun evening, and I feel truly fortunate to have been able to host,” Mr. Pryor reflected. “After attending last year’s get-together at Dean Delgado’s home, I was struck by its overall warmth and volunteered my home for this year’s gathering, hoping to capture that warm feeling again. I hope that I did.”
He added, “The gathering served as a reminder of the enduring bonds that connect St. John’s students and alumni. Through shared experiences, mentorship, and philanthropy, the St. John’s College community continues to invest in the success of future generations of leaders and legal professionals. Please consider supporting the St. John’s College Pre-Law Fund. Your donation will help ease the financial burden of law school preparation and applications for future St. John’s students.”
