Luca Iandoli authors new publications in Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship

Dr. Luca Iandoli, Associate Dean for Global Programs and research at the Collins College of Professional Studies, is the author of three upcoming publications that provide an overview of his research work on Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

Luca is the guest editor of a special issue on Digital Entrepreneurship just published in Small Business Economics, one of the most prestigious journals in entrepreneurship research. In the preface to the issue titled The Age of Digital Entrepreneurship, Iandoli and his French co-editors Jean Michel Sahut (IDRAC Business School) and Frederic Teulon (IPAG Business School) map current research on digital entrepreneurship. The paper offers a novel perspective that focuses on the way digital entrepreneurs create value by acquiring, processing, and distributing digital information.

A second paper titled The Role of Aesthetic Reasoning in Knowledge Management: The Case of Elegant Systems Architecture Design, just accepted for publication in the journal of Knowledge Management Research & Practice, Luca and his co-authors Giuseppe Zollo (University of Naples Federico II, Italy) and Alejandro Salado (Virginia Tech) combine findings from Neuro-Aesthetics, Gestalt psychology, Art critique, and Design to show that even in the engineering field more aesthetically pleasant representations leads to the design of more elegant and performance systems.

Finally, Luca and Mark Juszczak, assistant professor in the division of Mass Communication at St John's University have published a case study with Sage Business Cases titled The Invention and the Evolution of the Bicycle: A Design Thinking Exercise. The authors present an innovative pedagogic approach to introduce students to the hot topic of Design Thinking, a teaching methodology that Luca uses in his class on Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

These three works provide an overview of Luca Iandoli’s original perspective on creativity applied to innovation and entrepreneurship. According to this view, the pursuit of aesthetic intelligence not only helps designers to make new products more appealing but is a cognitive skill that supports more effective problem-solving.
