St. John’s University to Host Annual Relay for Life to Support American Cancer Society, April 21

April 19, 2017

St. John’s University will once again be honoring the lives of those affected by cancer through the 12th annual student-driven American Cancer Society Relay for Life walkathon on Friday, April 21.  Last year’s Relay at St. John’s raised over $140,000.

The Hero of Hope Award will be given out this year for the first time.  The recipient, a St. John’s student, is a U.S. Navy Veteran and cancer survivor.

Each year, hundreds of St. John’s students, faculty, administrators, and staff join together to raise money to fight cancer by participating in this all-night walkathon. The St. John’s community is approaching the million dollar mark throughout its 12 years of participation.  Relay for Life is an international effort in which communities raise funds for cancer research, celebrate the courage of survivors, and honor those who have died.
