St. John’s University to Open Long Island Graduate Center in Hauppauge, NY

New Suffolk County site will replace St. John’s former Oakdale campus

February 16, 2017

St. John’s University announced today that it has leased 11,000 square feet of space for its new Long Island Graduate Center in Hauppauge, NY.  The one-story building is centrally located within the business park at 120 Commerce Drive – easily accessible from both the Northern State Parkway and the Long Island Expressway.

"We are committed to continuing to provide quality graduate education programs on Long Island," said Robert A. Mangione, Ed.D., R.Ph., St. John’s University Provost.  "This new, centralized location provides us with the opportunity to serve our current students and to expand the academic offerings at this site."

The new location allows St. John’s to continue to serve Long Island students enrolled in graduate programs through the School of Education and St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  The Long Island Graduate Center will feature six state-of-the-art classrooms, video-equipped conference rooms which will allow for an interactive learning experience, office for full-time faculty based on-site, student gathering spaces and space for special events hosted by the University and its partners on Long Island.

"As an administrator in Suffolk County, the new location will be more convenient for me to continue my professional development while balancing my work schedule," said Al Pisano, District Administrator for Instructional Technology at Comsewogue School District.  "I look forward to taking advantage of the growing number of academic programs offered at St. John’s to enhance my skills in this competitive market."

St. John’s plans to open the new Long Island Graduate Center in June 2017, pending approval by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.  The new facility replaces the University’s Oakdale campus, which it sold in September 2016.  Courses currently underway in Oakdale will continue as planned with the University moving all of its Long Island operations to Hauppauge following the spring 2017 semester.
