St. John’s University President Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., recently presented independent research at the University Leadership Summit held in Palm Beach, Florida. In his keynote presentation, Dr. Gempesaw examined “Perspectives and Trends in Global Higher Education,” with a particular focus on US–China relations and opportunities in international student recruitment.

Dr. Gempesaw explored the recent and rapid increase in international students attending colleges and universities in the United States, and the challenges and opportunities associated with these global student enrollment trends. Using the St. John’s University experience as a case study to describe the growth of international programs, study abroad initiatives, and international enrollment, Dr. Gempesaw shared data and research that presented the risks and rewards of international enrollment efforts.

The University Leadership Summit is an invitation-only forum that brings senior-level university executives and solution providers together to engage in focused discussions of key new drivers shaping the education industry.
