The Center for the Study of Insurance Regulation (CSIR) of the School of Risk Management (SRM) hosted its fifth annual conference on October 20, 2016 at the Manhattan campus. It is a forum for open discourse of views among business leaders, government officials, educators and others involved in developing and implementing public policy in insurance in the U.S. and globally. The conference creates opportunities for SRM students to be involved and engaged with leaders in the field of insurance.
This event is unique in that it leaves no record of the presentations and is closed to the press and media, thus encouraging candid discussions among all participants, including SRM students and alumni. The theme of this year’s conference reflects the key insurance regulation and business issues of the year. Under the theme, “Regulatory Risk in Uncertain Times,” the speakers and participants are expected to discuss the potential impact of this year’s election outcomes. Plenary themes will cover regulation issues related to financial regulation, cyber risk, privacy rights, big data and catastrophes.
