- Updated Mask Guidance - Summer 2021
Based upon the recent changes that were made to mask guidance for fully vaccinated people in New York State, the University is updating its mask requirements for the summer months. We will monitor federal, state and local public health guidance and provide updated information prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
Effective June 1, 2021, fully vaccinated members of our campus community will no longer be required to wear face coverings while on campus. This includes fully vaccinated students attending in-person classes during summer sessions. The classroom seating will remain socially distant during summer sessions. Unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear face coverings while on campus, including unvaccinated students attending in-person classes this summer.
If you intend to stop wearing your mask while on campus, employees and students must first upload proof of vaccination as follows:
- Scan your proof of vaccination and save it to your desktop
- Sign into the University portal @ https://signon.stjohns.edu/
- Go to the Medicat Icon (you may be prompted to sign in again)
- Go to the Immunization Tab
- Select Enter Dates
- Select the Type of Immunization and enter the date of vaccination
- Select Submit
- Go to the Upload Tab
- Choose the type of document you are uploading from drop down
- Select the file to upload
The decision to wear a face covering remains a personal choice and no one should be pressured, directly or indirectly, to remove their face coverings. Vaccinated individuals with compromised immune systems should consult with their physician before deciding to stop wearing a face covering.
We strongly encourage all members of our University community to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
