A Celebration of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day During America’s Semiquincentennial. Happy 250th Birthday America!

On July 4, 2026, our nation celebrated its Semiquincentennial, or Quarter Millennium, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, PA, in 1776. St. John’s University commemorates the signing of the Constitution of the United States, which occurred on September 17, 1787. This annual commemoration continues to be an important part of the history of the United States. It recognizes the creation of our union 239 years ago, and it gives us the opportunity to reflect on the ongoing efforts to make our union "more perfect."
