- Announcement of 2019 Values and Inclusion Program (VIP) Nominees
In March, the University launched a new employee recognition initiative called the Values and Inclusion Program, or “VIP.” The goal of this program is to acknowledge and celebrate faculty, administrators, and staff who demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, thereby emphasizing and promulgating the University’s core values: Truth, Love, Respect, Opportunity, Excellence, and Service.
All members of the University community were invited to nominate employees for recognition. The nomination forms asked for a description of the nominee’s commitment to inclusion as demonstrated through one or more of the University’s core values, and an explanation of the ways in which the nominee sets an example for others with regard to creating an inclusive learning or working environment.
A selection committee, which included members of the Equity and Inclusion Council and the Office of Human Resources, reviewed all of the submissions and selected one faculty member, one administrator, and one staff employee to be recognized by the President at the Employee Convocation on June 4. All 26 eligible nominees are recognized as Values and Inclusion Program recipients and will be acknowledged at a separate event hosted by the Office of Human Resources.
We hope that this annual recognition program serves to inspire our community to create a more inclusive learning and working environment at St. John’s. More information about the VIP initiative can be found on the Employee Engagement webpage.
