Rhonnie Jaus was the former Executive Chief of the Sex Crimes and Crimes Against Children Division in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office where she handled the investigations and trials of cases involving sexual assault, human trafficking, child abuse, domestic violence and child homicide. She has lectured extensively throughout the State on issues pertaining to sexual assault and child abuse and served on many task forces and committees including the New York State District Attorney’s Association Legislative Committee for Sexual Offenses and the Mayor’s Task Force on Child Abuse. In 2011 the New York City Association of the Bar awarded her the Dewey Medal for Outstanding Assistant District Attorney for Kings County. In 2013 she was appointed by the United States Secretary of Defense to the Comparative Systems Subcommittee for the Response Systems Panel to advise the US Military on issues involving sexual assault. Jaus is currently the Title IX Coordinator and Director of Equity and Compliance for Adelphi University, where she handles Title IX allegations and investigations for the University and maintains compliance with all federal mandates and procedures. She also conducts trainings on all Title IX topics for students, faculty and staff. Jaus teaches classes in Criminal Procedure and Family Violence and Sexual Assault.
