George is a veteran operations executive in the Professional Sports industry. Currently, he oversees all tournament and event operations of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, the U.S. Open Series and the International Tennis Federations’ Davis Cup & Fed Cup matches hosted by the USTA.
At the U.S. Open, George oversees and has direct administrative responsibility over the anti-doping program, tennis integrity unit, player medical staff, locker-room & fitness areas, and ball person operation. The US Open Tennis Championships received the Sport Business Journal’s Sports Event of the Year Award in 2018.
The U.S. Open Series is eight WTA & ATP sectioned professional tennis tournaments that comprise the seven weeks of the North American summer tennis season and precede the US Open. George manages the operational relationship between the eight tournaments and all USTA departments that assist in the promotion, marketing and broadcast of these tournaments.
As the operations & logistical lead for Davis Cup and Fed Cup events on U.S. soil, George directs all facets of the USTA’s relationship with venues, local sports commissions, organizing committees and the USTA’s local section. This includes managing the recruitment of volunteers, sourcing and contracting with local vendors for specified goods & services and securing the transportation of the team’s operational inventory to and from the host city.
Over the course of his career, George has had the privilege of working for sports entities such as the New Jersey Devils, the Meadowlands Sports Complex, Major League Baseball, the Newark Bears, and New York Red Bulls. At these organizations, he’s directly managed the operations of world class events such as the FIFA World Cup, Stanley Cup Finals, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four Championship, World Baseball Classic and the Caribbean World Series.
