Journalists who report on political affairs need both a thorough knowledge of government and politics and the skills to collect, analyze, and communicate relevant information. The dual B.S./M.A. program in Journalism and Government and Politics will allow you to complete both degrees in just five years of full-time study.

While still working toward your undergraduate Journalism degree, you’ll enroll in four approved graduate courses in Government and Politics. These courses will still apply to your bachelor’s degree if for any reason you do not wish to continue at the master’s level after four years.

Career Outcomes

In the dual B.S./M.A. program in Journalism and Government and Politics, you’ll learn to gather and communicate information about all kinds of news, and will be especially well-versed in the role of government and the political process in today’s society. Your dual studies will allow you to conduct insightful interviews, gather pertinent information, and present that information to a worldwide audience. The knowledge and skills you’ll gain through the program will allow you to pursue careers related to government, media, foreign policy think tanks, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, international news agencies, and more.
