Red Storm student-athletes turn in a 3.51 cumulative GPA for the first semester
With the spring semester getting underway on Wednesday for undergraduates, the St. John's Athletic Department would like to recognize the academic success of its student-athletes this past fall.
The University's 300-plus student-athletes turned in a cumulative fall GPA of 3.51 while 57 student-athletes compiled a perfect 4.0 GPA for the term. 84 percent of student-athletes registered a GPA of 3.0 or better while 61 percent of Johnnies eclipsed the 3.5 mark.
"Words cannot express the level of pride I have in our student-athletes while looking at these academic marks from the fall semester," said Athletic Director Mike Cragg. "This tremendous output is a testament to their hard work and dedication. A special thanks is also warranted for our coaching staffs, our academic support team, and the countless number of advisors, professors and tutors who help prepare our student-athletes to be leaders both on and off the field."
All 17 of the University's teams obtained a GPA of 3.16 or higher, led by women's golf at 3.85. Among men's teams, the fencing squad's 3.58 mark led the way.
