Jay Nathan, Ph.D., Professor of Management, at the University of Ordea, Romania, in March 2020
Jay Nathan, Ph.D., Professor of Management at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, recently returned from Romania, where he was awarded a 15-day Fulbright Foreign Scholarship at the University of Oradea in March.
During his stay in the country, Nathan delivered a series of lectures and seminars on Romania’s regional developments, successful American business practices, and globalization in the context of global supply chains. His talks emphasized management strategies for development in historical, cultural, and modern contexts, and his audiences included senior undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, and business executives.
Spending time at such an institution was particularly gratifying for Nathan, who has traveled extensively to share his passion for international business education with students and faculty all over the world. His previously Fulbright Scholarships have taken him to places as diverse as Hungary, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Poland, and Thailand.
Much like his February 2018 Fulbright Foreign Scholarship in Hungary, Nathan pronounced himself “transformed” by this most recent experience. He cited the opportunity to connect with the history and culture of the Transylvania plateau, the collaborations with the students whom he was fortunate to encounter, and his Tobin students’ participation in research projects with their Romanian counterparts.
“I have been fascinated by the Transylvania plateau, with the Transylvania Alps and the Carpathian Mountains surrounding it, for quite some time,” he said. “This truly was a dream come true.”
