Policy

Signature Authority: Contract signing authority is granted to (i) the University's officers and (ii) by employee(s) designated by the President.

It is the responsibility of the person seeking approval of a contract to (i) substantiate the wisdom, profitability, etc. of entering into such contract, (ii) have the contract reviewed by the Office of the General Counsel (if required), and (iii) confirm with Business Affairs that the University is able to comply with any insurance requirements.

Office of General Counsel Review: Any contracts in excess of $50,000 or for a term longer than one year must be forwarded to the office of the General Counsel for review.

Exceptions: Regardless of the amount or length of term, contracts that fall into one of the categories listed below must be reviewed by the Office of the General Counsel.

  1. Contracts involving use of the University's intellectual property.
  2. Contracts involving the lease, sale, purchase or other disposition of real estate.
  3. Contracts related to off-campus educational programs or activities.
