Gianna Mauriello

I am a first-year student majoring in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in English at St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, with plans to graduate in 2026. My interest in speech-language pathology stemmed from wanting to help children with speech impediments and disorders. To accomplish this goal, I plan to attend graduate school after earning my bachelor’s degree and then begin working in a school. My future plan is to open my own private practice and provide all aspects of therapy to help those with a speech need.

I am involved in a variety of clubs on St. John’s University’s Queens, NY, campus, including the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and Her Campus. I chose to attend St. John’s for several reasons: it is not far from my home on Staten Island, it offers many opportunities on campus (that I am enjoying!), and most importantly, the program they offer is aligned with my career goals. I am excited to study abroad in the Spring of 2024; I have always wanted this experience, and it is surreal that it will happen next year.
