WELCOME NEW STUDENTS! If you are navigating this page, then you have already submitted your enrollment deposit and secured your spot in the incoming Class of 2024 and we want to officially welcome you home to St. John's University! We are so excited to include you in this amazing incoming class. 

Be sure to take your time to read through the important dates, information and deadlines below!

New Students

The information below is very important, as it contains your upcoming enrollment timeline and item submission deadlines and requirements. Please disregard any information you may have already submitted.

Your St. John’s University Email Address

Issued roughly within one week after deposit is submitted
It is important that you stay connected with this email address, as the University will be sending important enrollment information to this address. The Online Patient Portal (see “Medical Forms” below) and Online Placement Exam Platform (see “Placement Exams” below) will require this email address to complete as well. Generally the email address is issued within one week of the student submitting the $300 enrollment confirmation deposit.

On-Campus Housing Selection via the Housing Portal

Deposit Due: May 1, 2024
The Office of Residence Life will contact students who plan to live on campus regarding next steps in the housing self-selection process. Please visit the Housing Selection Website for more information, dates and deadlines, frequently asked questions, housing selection tutorials, and more. The application process for housing begins with submitting a non-refundable $400 housing deposit and non-refundable $300 enrollment deposit. We will reach out to you within 2-3 business days after you deposit with instructions on accessing the Housing Portal. Students can submit the housing deposit by logging into their Student Portal. 

Official SAT/ACT Test Scores 

May 15, 2024
Should you need to submit official test scores, you can submit them in one of the following three ways. To determine if you need to submit official test scores, please log into your Online Student Portal.

  • Have your school counselor submit your official SAT/ACT scores directly to St. John’s via slate.org, or
  • For SAT only, you can request that the College Board (St. John's school code: 2799) submit your official scores directly to St. John’s, or
  • For ACT only, you can have the ACT Company St. John's school code: 2888) send you your official scores, then you can upload those to your Online Student Portal.

We require these to complete your enrollment at St. John’s. Failure to submit them may result in loss of any financial aid you have received. Further details can be found on Page 8 of the Undergraduate Bulletin.

Medical Forms  

June 30, 2024
As per New York State Public Health Laws 2165 & 2167, all students must submit proof of immunization to measles, mumps, rubella, as well as complete a meningitis response form. “As of March 28, 2023, St. John's no longer requires students to provide proof of vaccination to COVID-19. Vaccinations and boosters are strongly recommended as they remain very effective in protecting each of us individually from serious illness and death. Visit vaccinefinder.nyc.gov for assistance finding a nearby vaccination site.”  

Students who are not in compliance with these university requirements and New York State laws will not be permitted to move into their residence hall and will not be able to attend classes. Click here for additional information and assistance. 

Final Official High School Transcript

July 15, 2024
You can ensure submission by the above deadline by:

  • Transcript Request Form (PDF) Print, complete and submit to your guidance counselor BEFORE your last day of classes.

This is issued by your high school after the last day of classes. To be considered “final and official,” it must contain your date of graduation. We require this document to complete your enrollment at St. John’s, so failure to submit it may result in loss of any financial aid you have received.

Proof of high school graduation includes a final, high school transcript with date of graduation; a state-issued diploma; or the GED (General Education Diploma) or other state-approved equivalency assessment through TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion). In-state, out-of-state homeschool and online educated students must submit an official document from the state Department of Education or the superintendent of their school district that attests that the education is equivalent to a high school diploma or obtain a High School Equivalency diploma. Final Official College Transcript

July 15, 2024
Any student enrolled in Dual College credit programs outside St. John's University should forward their transcript to the Office of Admission for a credit evaluation.

Submitting Advanced Placement Scores

July 15, 2024
If you would like to have your AP scores evaluated for college credit, please forward your scores to us by logging into your College Board account and sending the scores to St. John's University (St. John's school code: 2799).

Placement Assessments 

Placement Assessments must be completed in advance of class registration. 

Students seeking enrollment in certain majors (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science etc. ) will require completion of placement assessments. Qualifying students will hear from the Center for Student Success shortly after your deposit has been received with further instructions regarding how to complete the placement assessments. It is important to complete these assessments as soon as possible, as these scores are required to register for spring classes.

Official transcripts reflecting final grades are required to consider your application complete, and must be official documents submitted by your previous institution(s). If an associate’s degree was earned, be sure to submit your final official transcript reflecting degree conferral. These transcripts are required in order to complete your enrollment at St. John’s. Failure to submit them may result in loss of any financial aid you have been offered. Further details can be found on Page 5 of the Undergraduate Bulletin.

Final Official High School Transcript

June 15, 2024
To be considered “final and official,” it must contain your date of graduation and be submitted by your previously attended high school. We require this document to complete your enrollment at St. John’s, so failure to submit it may result in loss of any financial aid you have received.

Proof of high school graduation includes a final, high school transcript with date of graduation; a state-issued diploma; or the GED (General Education Diploma) or other state-approved equivalency assessment through TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion). In-state, out-of-state homeschool and online educated students must submit an official document from the state Department of Education or the superintendent of their school district that attests that the education is equivalent to a high school diploma or obtain a High School Equivalency diploma. As per New York State Public Health Laws 2165 & 2167, all students must submit proof of immunization to measles, mumps, rubella, as well as complete a meningitis response form.  “As of March 28, 2023, St. John's no longer requires students to provide proof of vaccination to COVID-19. Vaccinations and boosters are strongly recommended as they remain very effective in protecting each of us individually from serious illness and death. Visit vaccinefinder.nyc.gov for assistance finding a nearby vaccination site.”

Students who are not in compliance with these university requirements and New York State laws will not be permitted to move into their residence hall and will not be able to attend classes. Click here for additional information and assistance.

Transfer Student Orientation

Get Excited! Get Connected! Get Ready! Transfer Student Orientation is a one-day orientation program for all new transfer students. Transfer Orientation will help you learn more about campus, experience life as a Johnny first-hand, introduce you to your academic program of study, academic deans, faculty, and show you the many ways you can get involved and find the support you need to achieve success.   • Be in the original language and include (if they are not in English) a certified true English translation. 
  • Electronic transcripts must be emailed directly from your previous institution from an official school email domain to [email protected].

The steps below apply for students conditionally admitted to St. John’s University. You have been offered conditional admission because you are academically admissible, but have not demonstrated satisfactory English proficiency, or are not planning to submit tests scores. 

You will enroll full-time, in St. John’s University’s non-credit English Language Institute (ELI). Upon successful completion of the ELI, you will enroll in your degree program.

ELI Orientation and Placement Test  

ELI orientation takes place on the first day of classes. For fall session 1 is September 4, for fall session 2 is October 22.

Proof of high school graduation from a U.S. institution includes a final, high school transcript with date of graduation; a state-issued diploma; or the GED (General Education Diploma) or other state-approved equivalency assessment through TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion). In-state, out-of-state homeschool and online educated students must submit an official document from the state Department of Education or the superintendent of their school district that attests that the education is equivalent to a high school diploma or obtain a High School Equivalency diploma.
