Questions and Answers

Many accredited US universities, including St. John’s University, accept students who have completed the Central Board of Secondary Education curriculum. CBSE qualifications are recognized as equivalent to a US high school diploma, allowing you to apply directly for undergraduate admission.

Yes. If you have completed the Central Board of Secondary Education Senior School Certificate Examination (Class 12), you are eligible for review for credit or advanced placement at St. John’s University.

At St. John’s, CBSE Class 12 results are reviewed individually to determine US GPA equivalency. The Office of International Admission evaluates your official CBSE mark sheets and percentage grades within the context of the Indian grading scale.

Generally, high CBSE marks—typically in the A1 or A2 range—align with strong US GPA performance. Minimum GPA requirements may vary by program or major. Once admitted, eligible CBSE coursework may be reviewed for advanced standing or University credit.

St. John’s welcomes applications from students who have completed the Central Board of Secondary Education Class 12 curriculum. Competitive applicants typically earn overall scores in the upper range of their school’s grading scale—often 70 percent or higher—with strong marks in subjects related to their intended major. B1 and B2 grades are also accepted. Minimum GPA requirements may vary by program or major.

Admission decisions are based on academic performance, English proficiency, personal achievements, and program-specific prerequisites. Applicants must submit official CBSE mark sheets, their Senior School Certificate, and school-issued marksheets for years nine and 11 to be considered for admission.

CBSE students can apply to St. John’s by completing the undergraduate international application online. Applicants should submit official mark sheets from Grades nine and 11, their CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets, and the Senior School Certificate, sent directly from their school or the examination board. Applicants must also meet the English language proficiency requirement and provide any program-specific materials, such as essays or recommendation letters. Once admitted, CBSE coursework may be reviewed for advanced standing or University credit.
