College Advantage Program

St. John’s University is committed to providing all eager students with academic advantages as early as possible.  Our College Advantage Program offers such an opportunity!  This program allows qualified junior and senior high school students the opportunity to enroll concurrently in their high school and college credit-bearing courses through St. John’s University, at a reduced tuition cost.

Three (3) great reasons to participate in the St. John's University College Advantage Program!

1. Courses are offered at a deep discount from regular undergraduate tuition rates. 

   The College Advantage Program at St. John’s University provides qualifying high school juniors and seniors with the opportunity to enroll concurrently in high school and credit bearing St. John’s courses at a cost of $325 per course, a deep discount from regular undergraduate tuition rates.

2. Get a "head start" on your college experience. 

   Classes are taught at your high school by approved teachers in areas of study that include English, Mathematics, Language, Fine Arts, Science, Social Sciences, and Humanities. This program benefits high-achieving students to be further motivated and to get a "head start" on college. 

   It’s important to note, that all completed College Advantage courses, including the grades received, will be part of the student’s academic record at St. John’s University and will be reflected on the student’s transcript and factored into the student’s cumulative GPA. Please note that the applicability of credits toward the participating student's St. John’s degree will be dependent upon the student's chosen program of study at St. John’s.

   Lastly, College Advantage course(s) can be transferable to other colleges and universities for credit toward a required course or elective, however, St. John’s cannot guarantee transferability because transferability varies by institution, academic degree, and academic transfer policy of the institution (similarly to the transferability of Advance Placement (AP) credit).

3. Qualify for a special financial grant of $3,000 upon enrolling at St. John’s after graduation from high school. 

   Participating students who are admitted and decide to enroll at St. John’s immediately after high school graduation become eligible for the College Advantage Program Tuition Grant ($3,000), applicable for up to four years of full-time, continuous undergraduate study at St. John’s University. 

Timeline and process for the College Advantage Program:

1. The student submits a completed application between the designated application dates above.
2. St. John's will process the application (which includes course registration). 
3. St. John’s will issue both electronic and paper bills/invoices. Only the paper bill will list the course(s).

Please note: We encourage you to complete the application as soon as possible because it takes generally one to two weeks to complete the above three steps.  

Next:

• Payment is expected upon receipt of the bill, but no later than the above due date.   Students who do not receive an invoice after one week from date of application submission should contact the University at (718) 990-2000.
• Upon receipt of full payment, the University will post the payment to the student’s account and the student’s enrollment in the course(s) will be considered completed and finalized for the semester. 

How do I submit payment for the College Advantage Program?

Payment may be made online

The quickest way to finalize payment is online via the student’s personal UIS account.  Online payment may be made by credit card or ACH by either the student or an authorized user designated by the student (action steps required).

Steps for online payment

• Please locate your X-ID on your invoice.
• Go to https://www.stjohns.edu/uis to access the University Information System (UIS) log in screen.
• Log in using your User ID, which is your X-ID number with a capital X (no dashes).  If you have previously logged into UIS, your PIN will be the password you have already created. If you have not previously logged into UIS, follow the instructions provided for temporary PIN information.
• Once signed in, follow these steps to view your tuition and pay your bill:
• Click on Student > Registration > View/Confirm Term Bill.
• Select Spring 2024 from the drop-down menu.
• View Your Balance Due.
• Click on the blue link at the bottom of the screen to make a payment online using a Credit/Debit Card or Electronic Check.

ONLINE credit card tuition account transactions will process with a 2.85% (or $3.00 minimum) credit card servicing fee through our payment portal partner Touchnet PayPath. This fee is established and charged solely by TouchNet PayPath, the University does not control this fee and does not receive any portion of this fee.

ACH/Webcheck payments will still be accepted online with no service fee from a valid checking or savings account. Please check with your bank to see if payments from your account can process electronically.

Payment may also be made by personal check 

Please mail personal check to the following address, and if possible:

• Please indicate the student’s identification number in the memo field of the check.
  • The student’s identification number can be located on the bill and is an eight-digit number beginning with an “X”, also known as X-Id number).

How many schools currently participate in the College Advantage Program?

There are currently more than 100 schools who participate in the St. John's University College Advantage Program. If your school is not currently a participant in the program, contact your school's main office and have them contact [email protected].

How does a student become a St. John's University College Advantage student?

Juniors and seniors who attend one of the participating high schools should contact their school’s liaison to the College Advantage Program to learn more about entry requirements. 

Students who attend currently non-participating schools should reach out to their guidance counselor and request that he or she contact Margarita David to learn more about how the high school may become a participating school.

I am a College Advantage participant. Can I get a copy of my College Advantage transcript?
