Community-Based Research (CBR):
The Institute offers expert (faculty, administrator, etc) supported Community-Based Research for organizations interested in becoming active partners in the research process by collaborating in the design and implementation of research objectives aimed at meeting identified community needs.
Social Research:
Community organizations needing client satisfaction surveys, program evaluations, or other short-term social research services to help meet program goals or further their mission can apply for consideration.
Ozanam Scholar Service:
The Ozanam Scholars Program provides a platform for students to critically examine the systems that perpetuate poverty and take action to advance social justice through academic scholarship, Vincentian service, and global citizenship. The program seeks to develop students to become social justice advocates and responsible citizens in their local and global communities.
- Community organizations seeking Ozanam Scholars Program service must be dedicated to creating positive change for high-need populations (poverty alleviation, etc)
- Sites must adequately describe service engagement, scholar role, etc using the Service Description Sheet
- Service projects must be sustainable and solutions-based
- Service is on a per-semester basis (10 – 12 weeks of active service)
- Community organizations must be able to accommodate 3-6 hours of active service each week
- Service sites must be within a 45min commute from the St. John’s University campus
- Service sites and projects should have the potential to facilitate scholar research projects
