Communication Sciences and Disorders

Department of Core Studies
The Department of Core Studies is designed to help first-year students in their academic transition to University life. As a unit, the three courses comprising the Department of Core Studies – First Year Writing, Scientific Inquiry, and First Year Seminar – assist first-year students in becoming their own intellectual “gatekeepers” as they are exposed each day to large amounts of information from a wide variety of sources.

Since its first season in September 1994, the Dr. M. T. Geoffrey Yeh Art Gallery has been dedicated to the exhibition of all forms of contemporary art. It brings to the Queens campus works of art by well-known and emerging artists of regional, national, and international backgrounds

Physics
The Department of Physics at St. John's University offers three Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in Physics, Mathematical Physics, and Physical Science, as well as a minor in Physics. We also offer combined B.S./M.B.A. programs that allow you to complete both degrees within five years.
Postgraduate Professional Development Programs
We offer a dynamic and interdisciplinary structure that engages scholars and accomplished practitioners in discussions of critical issues and best practices relevant to the population we serve. Through our continuing education workshops, conferences, and certificate programs, we collaborate with local professional organizations to facilitate the cross-fertilization of ideas and training through both formal and informal gatherings at our various facilities. We offer Postdoctoral Certificates training in Forensic Psychology and workshops in Child Abuse Identification/Reporting and School Violence Prevention.

Sociology and Anthropology
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology equips you with a rich understanding of the social, cultural, political, and economic structures that influence human behavior. Our programs provide the theoretical and methodological skills needed to develop practical research on people’s habits, customs and traditions, social practices, group interactions, institutions, organizations, and communities. You gain critical awareness of power relations; structural inequalities related to class, ethnicity, gender, race, and sexuality; and the social movements that advance social change locally and globally.
Our undergraduate and graduate programs prepare you for a variety of careers in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Graduates pursue careers in banking, civil society and community services, criminal justice, education, finance, health, law, psychology, research and development, social work, and technology.
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is a vibrant, interdisciplinary, and diverse community of faculty, students, and alumni who engage in opportunities beyond the classroom, including guest lectures, symposia, research collaborations, student-led publications, as well as networking events such as Criminology Connections (held every fall) and Sociology Connections (held every spring).
The department offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including accelerated, combined degree programs that allow you to earn both your undergraduate and graduate degrees in five years of full-time study. The department also offers a hybrid M.A. in Sociology degree, which allows you to complete the program in three semesters through a blend of in-person and online coursework.

The Department of Theology and Religious Studies at St. John's University has its roots in Catholic tradition and is committed to exploring the breadth and depth of theological knowledge. The department offers courses which span the range of theological thought and provide a context for ecumenical dialogue and study.
