Public Safety Advisory
The Department of Public Safety would like to advise all attendees of the security and safety measures that will be in place during the Commencement Exercises. Your patience, understanding, and most importantly, your cooperation is greatly appreciated. The Department of Public Safety will be working closely with the New York City Police Department. Officers will be assigned to all the entrance points to the ceremony sites and bags and packages will be checked. Please only bring necessary items with you. Please review the list below for items that are NOT allowed at the ceremonies:
- Backpacks
- Any bag larger than 16"x16"x8"
- Outside food and beverages. Guests will be permitted to bring in one, soft, plastic, factory sealed water bottle of 20 ounces or less.
- Hover boards/skateboards
- Masks or costumes
- Noisemaking devices
- Alcohol
- Illegal drugs or substances
- Animals (Service Animals Exempt)
- Flags, banners, or signs
- Laser pens
- Balloons, Beach Balls, Projectiles
- Selfie Sticks
- Mono/Tripods or other professional camera equipment
- Strollers
- Weapons of any kind
- Drones
- Personal folding chairs
- Fireworks
- Exceptions will be made for those with medical requirements and/or special needs
These security measures are intended to ensure this special day is enjoyable for our graduates and their families by providing a safe and secure venue for each ceremony.
