Why Scholarships Matter
One of the ways our most generous donors show their appreciation and love for St. John's is by establishing endowed funds which provide everlasting support. Endowed scholarships are gifts of $50,000 or more–payable outright or over several years–to a scholarship.The principal of endowment funds are held in perpetuity, and are invested while the income created from that investment is utilized to provided scholarship awards on an annual basis.
The investment objection for these endowments is to continue to increase the annual scholarship awards over time while providing as many students as possible the opportunity to attend St. John's.

Margaret M. Keane ’81C, ’87MBA
Secretary of the University’s Board of Trustees, Chief Executive Officer of Synchrony, and one of only 24 female CEOs in the Fortune 500- delivered the Queens Commencement address and received an honorary degree.

St. John's College
Alison G. Hyslop, Ph.D., Chair and Associate Professor of Chemistry, led an Academic Service-Learning project helping children in hurricane-damaged Puerto Rico acquire solar cell panels to charge cell phones and other devices. Read more.

College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Vivek Gupta, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, recently secured two grants totaling more than $600,000 for his research in treating pulmonary hypertension. Read more.

St. John’s students flexed their entrepreneurial muscles at the second annual Pitch Johnny Competition, where they presented their original start-up ideas before judges who included professors and industry professionals, as well as alumni. Read more.

St. John’s Law continues to rank in the top tier of New York law schools for bar exam success, with a July 2018 pass rate of 87 percent—well above the statewide average of 83 percent. Read more.
