Global Development Entrepreneurship Program

The Global Development Entrepreneurship Program is a semester-long program for undergraduate and graduate students where students develop their own entrepreneurial ventures/businesses, enhance them in connection with the UN Development Goals and take their ventures and pitch them in an International Pitch Competition during the 63rd International Council for Small Business World Congress in Taipei, Taiwan.

The purpose of this program is to:

  • Help students develop their entrepreneurial ventures with a global focus.
  • Allow them to connect their ventures with the UN Development Goals with a focus on one or more of those Goals.
  • Take their idea and create a team with other international students through the ICSB Academy.
  • Compete with that team at the ICSB Business Pitch Competition.
  • Attend the ICSB World Conference and learn about global entrepreneurs from all around the world.

Program Requirements:

  • Open to all students, must be a currently registered student at St. John’s University for the Spring 2018 semester.
  • Must be able to attend 3-4 meetings regarding the program during the Spring 2018 semester.
  • Must be able to actively participate in an online system designed by the ICSB Academy.
  • If accepted, students must be able to pay for their flight (or any Visa Requirements) to Taipei, Taiwan as well as some meals during their stay, the ICSB conference will cover some meals.

Program Timeline (Tentative: Subject to Change):

  • January 2018: Notification of the program is released with an application:
  • February 28, 2018: Application is due
  • March 1 – 15, 2018: Interviews of their business pitches
  • March 22, 2018: Finalists selected.
  • April 2018: Planning Meeting
  • May 2018: Planning Meeting
  • June 2018: Planning Meeting
  • June 24– 30, World Conference and Academy in Taipei, Taiwan
