As an integral part of our student's St. John's experience, faculty will welcome and cheer on our graduates at the July ceremonies.

Queens Attire Pick-Up and Drop-Off
If renting academic attire, academic attire must be picked up from the Office of University Events, which is located on the garden level of the University Center on the Queens campus, on Wednesday, July 7 (between 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.); Thursday, July 8 (between 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.); or Friday, July 9 (between 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m.). Rental attire can be returned to the Office of University Events on Monday, July 19 (between 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.).

Staten Island Attire Pick-Up and Drop-Off
If renting academic attire, academic attire must be picked up from the Office of the Vice Provost in room 204 of Flynn Hall on the Staten Island campus on Wednesday, July 7 (between 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) or Thursday, July 8 (between 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.). Rental attire can be returned to the Office of the Vice Provost on Monday, July 19 (between 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.).

In accordance with New York state Department of Health (DOH) guidelines for large scale outdoor events, each ceremony will have limited student and guest capacity; graduates are able to bring two (2) guests. There will be no procession and recession of graduates, faculty, and stage, no exchanging of items, no hooding, and no handshaking.

Requirements

Per New York state's existing health guidance for large scale outdoor events, all graduates and/or guests, will be required to:

  • Show a form of identification that includes your name and photo (student ID card, driver's license, passport or other form of identification)
  • Provide proof at the check-in table of a completed COVID-19 vaccination series at least 14 days prior to the ceremony (in order to remove face coverings/masks)

Following the NY state guidelines, social distancing will be observed and face coverings and masks must be worn when arriving on campus until check-in.  

Check-In: Upon arrival to campus, faculty should go directly to the Celtic Cross to check-in with the captain.

  • form of identification that includes your name and photo (student id card, driver's license, passport or other form of identification
  • proof of the COVID-19 vaccination series at least 14 days prior to the ceremony (in order to remove face coverings/masks)

No exceptions can be made for those unable to provide proper documentation.

Face coverings/masks:

  • All attendees will be asked to socially distance and wear masks when arriving on campus until they check-in and provide proof of full vaccination.
    • For fully vaccinated attendees - masks are optional.
    • For unvaccinated attendees - masks are required and only optional while seated and socially distanced.
  • Once seated, face coverings and masks may be removed for the duration of the ceremony while seated and socially distanced.

Note:

  • Graduates will be asked to wear their face covering and mask when they are lining up to cross the stage platform.
  • If graduates wish to remove their face covering and mask while crossing the stage platform and posing for their photo, they will be allowed to do so as long as they put it back on immediately after exiting the platform and returning to their seat.

There can be no exceptions to the deadlines, vaccination requirements, or other protocols shared above.

Adhering to the regulations above will ensure a smooth check-in and celebration for all attendees.
