2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. St. John’s University commemorates that day through solemn gestures and events, as we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost that day, including 75 members of the St. John’s family, and the scores of heroic first responders and members of the University community who have perished since.

Participate with St. John's and the 9/11 Day organization at Citi Field to honor those lost and affected by 9/11 through meaningful acts of service, in observance of the National Day of Service and Remembrance. Registration required.

Remembrance Walking Tour

Location: St. John's University, Queens Campus
As we honor the anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, join us for a guided tour of three 9/11 memorials located on campus. Learn more and register here.
9-11 Memorial Display
Date: Friday, September 11, 2026
Time: 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Location: D'Angelo Center Foyer
On Friday, September 11, 2026, church bells will toll at 8:46, 9:03, 9:37, and 10:03 a.m., commemorating the moments of impact in New York, NY; Washington, DC; and Shanksville, PA.
Additional Features
Throughout the year, you are also invited to submit names of those who have been called home to the Lord to our Virtual Book of Remembrance.
Let us remember together those who lost their lives that day, as the author of the following prayer encourages us:
“May all of us remember with love and compassion this day.
May we grieve with those who still mourn,
And share memories with those who cannot forget.
May we draw strength from those who bravely responded,
And gave their lives to save others.
May we stand with strangers who became neighbors that day,
And remember their generosity and hospitality.
Above all, God, may we remember your faithfulness,
And learn to trust in your unfailing love.”
