What We Do
The Department of Pharmacy Practice prepares student pharmacists with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to excel in the evolving field of pharmacy practice.
Who We Are
The Department of Pharmacy Practice includes scholars and practicing pharmacists with diverse expertise in acute care, ambulatory care, clinical toxicology, community practice, critical care, drug information/informatics, family medicine, geriatrics, health systems, infectious disease, internal medicine, oncology, palliative care, pediatrics, psychiatry, and public health. Faculty practice sites are located across the New York metropolitan area. We are pharmacists who ensure safe, effective, and rational medication use and provide collaborative care to a diverse, metropolitan patient population consistent with the University’s Catholic and Vincentian mission.
Our Mission
We are committed to fostering a learning environment that promotes critical thinking, professionalism, and a deep sense of social responsibility. We are dedicated to developing competent, ethical, compassionate, and culturally aware pharmacists who are prepared to practice as vital members of an interprofessional team and provide comprehensive medication management.
We promote academic excellence, clinical practice, community service, patient care, and research and innovation. Our research and scholarly activities are dedicated to improving patient care for those communities we serve. We are leaders and advocates for the pharmacy profession. The department serves our students, faculty, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, the University, and society.
