Strategic Priorities Review Team

The Strategic Priorities Review Team (SPRT) was formed in January, 2016 and serves as the standing body responsible for monitoring progress toward the implementation of the St. John’s Strategic Priorities Action Plan (PDF) addressing our four strategic priorities.  Members of SPRT report to the President and Provost and are charged with:

  • Monitoring the implementation of the strategic priorities
  • Suggesting modifications on the focus of the strategic priorities
  • Proposing necessary revisions to the action plans and metrics
  • Regularly reporting to University leaders and campus community
  • Broadly recommending next initiatives

For the 2016-2017 academic year, SPRT consists of nearly fifty members of the St. John’s University faculty, staff, administration, and student body selected to broadly represent the University community.  SPRT is divided into four sub-teams corresponding to each of our strategic priorities.  Current and past members of the SPRT can be found below.

The St. John's University Strategic Priorities Action Plan (PDF) was developed through a broad-based, intensive, 11-month Presidential initiative led by members of the Strategic Priorities Working Group from November 2014-October 2015.  The Strategic Priorities Action Plan is designed to be a living document addressing our strategic priorities at the University-level and to focus our efforts on actions necessary to advance on each front.  Many of the action steps lead to measurable targets that allow us to determine if we are successful in meeting our strategic priorities.  Since January, 2016, the SPRT has been responsible for reviewing, monitoring, and taking a continuous inventory of the accomplishments made to achieve our strategic priorities.  In addition, the SPRT provides the framework through which the SJU Strategic Priorities Action Plan is updated and modified annually.

From January through May of 2016, the SPRT worked hard to develop a baseline assessment of institutional actions and progress on each of the four strategic priorities.  Throughout the summer of 2016, the SPRT leadership team compiled a summary report of key institutional actions made toward each of the four strategic priorities since the development of the Strategic Priorities Action Plan in 2014-2015.  The 2016 SPRT Summary Report was shared with the President’s Advisory Council, the Academic and Administrative Assembly, and other key university leaders, and served as the basis for the third annual President’s Retreat, held on August 24, 2016.  It will also serve as the guide for future action on our strategic priorities during the 2016-2017 academic year.

We look forward to your ongoing support.  Please feel free to contact us with suggestions, questions, or comments at [email protected].

Thank you,
