Post a Job or Internship

All full-time and part-time job opportunities and internships are available to undergraduate and graduate students and alumni via Handshake (St. John's Platform for Recruiting Students). Handshake allows employers to search for students across all the participating schools that use its network, sorting perspective students by major, classwork, skills, and more. This system is a comprehensive tool that allows employers to register with University Career Services. Once registration is approved, employers can enter their current job or internship postings directly into Handshake, which can be accessed by our entire student body.

Please note: St. John's University School of Law has its own Career Services office and is the only place where opportunities for law students and attorneys are posted. To post an employment/fellowship/internship opportunity for a law student or an attorney, visit the: Law Career Services web site.

How to Post Job Opportunities and Internships:

Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements Law

The employer affirmatively assures, represents, and warrants to the Career Services Office that either (i) the salary range provided complies with any applicable salary disclosure or transparency laws, including Local Law 32 of the Local Laws of the City of New York For the year 2022 ("Salary Transparency in Job Advertisement Law"), or (ii) the position is not covered by the requirements of the Salary Transparency in Job Advertisement Law or any applicable salary disclosure or transparency law.

First-time Users:
(to receive a Handshake Account to post to St. John's University)

  • Click here to access the St. John's Handshake Employer Registration Form.
  • Complete the registration sign-up pages. Click Create User at the end of the registration process.
  • Check your email address that you provided during signup for a conformation email and follow those instructions (if you do not see it check your spam folder).
  • Click the link in the email, then log in at stjohns.joinhandshake.com
  • You will be asked to pick your company from a list, or create a new company. Any companies whose email domain matches yours will be suggested to join.
    • There are few different options, depending on your situation:
      • Claim Company: If you are the first user from your company to sign up for Handshake, and your company was created by Career Services, then you can claim your company. Career Services will verify your account before you can take full possession.
      • Join Company: If your company already exists, and you are not the first user, then pick your company from the list of suggestions. One of the other Handshake users at that company will need to verify you before you can access most site features. They will be notified of the request via email.
      • Create Company: If your company doesn't exist, you can create a new company instead. It will start out with the same name as your email domain. For example, if you signed up under "[email protected]", the company would be named "Friends.com". Click on the company name, then click "Edit" in the upper-right corner to update your company name and details.
  • Once completed and submitted, a University Career Services staff member will review the information provided on your registration.
  • Once your account has been approved, click Jobs on the left-hand side bar to post your positions!

REGISTERED USERS, please follow the directions below:

  • Go to Handshake Login
  • Log in with your email address and password that you used to create your account.
  • Click Jobs on the left-hand side bar to post your positions.
  • All positions* go to a holding bin for approval. You will receive a response usually within three business days.

* Note: Jobs and Internships should be appropriate and well-suited to the programs of study offered at St. John’s University. Therefore, we reserve the right to refuse any postings that do not align with The University’s programs, mission, or values.
