About Us

The Atlanta Alumni Chapter of St. John's University was founded in 1984 by Bruce Kellogg ’71C and Vinnie Colluro ’66CBA, ’71MBA. Our three pillars are Social, Service, and Scholarship. We believe that with every social event there is a service opportunity available as we strive to continue the University’s Vincentian Mission. We look forward to a variety of events and opportunities for Atlanta Johnnies to get together. From networking happy hours with our young alumni to golf outings that raise scholarship funds to service days and more, there is something for everyone to get involved in.

Information

We aim to extend the St. John's community to all Georgia-based alumni. We love getting together to network, meet new friends, and catch up with old friends throughout the year. Some events to look forward to including:

  • 4-5 St. John’s University Men’s Basketball Game Watches per season
  • Atlanta Braves Games
  • Annual Networking Night in November
  • Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Fall Social
  • Service Opportunities

To continue the Vincentian Mission from our time as students at St. John’s, we are continually partnering with local organizations in order to give back to the community.

Annually, we volunteer during The Quest Atlanta Catholic Radio station’s phone-a-thon! We have helped in raising more than $147,000.

We work closely with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Georgia by volunteering at their food pantry and events throughout the year including University Service Day, golf outings, and donations.

Every social gathering is a service opportunity. At every game watch, we also collect white tube socks for the needy. This is the highest requested item needed in homeless shelters! Over the last few years, we donated over 500 pairs of socks to those in need!

During the holiday season, we always make sure to make one of the Men’s Basketball Game Watches a Toys for Tots night! We collect unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas in conjunction with the US Marine Corps and other universities' local alumni chapters.

The Atlanta Chapter was the first regional chapter to create an endowed scholarship for St. John’s students! Through the efforts and generous donations of our alumni, we are able to award a fully endowed scholarship, providing an annual payout of $2,5000 to one or more students from Georgia.

We became endowed in Fall 2022 at $33,000. Since then we have raised $42,000 of our $50,000 goal. We are always looking for additional support to increase the scholarship to ensure we assist students in decreasing the financial burden of a college education.
