Academic GA Position
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with designated librarians on special long-term projects related to research and scholarship, academic- and student-success programs, assessment, and/or teaching and learning activities. Other responsibilities might also include:
- working on projects associated with teaching, research and service within the academic library environment
- working on projects associated with data creation and/or data cleanup in the Libraries’ Integrated Library System (ILS)
- providing assistance with inclusive online and in-person library instruction sessions;
- creating and editing inclusive online library guides, tutorials and/or instructional resource;
- assisting with the development and codification of library best practices and procedures in a variety of settings and situations;
- assisting with the development and maintenance of the University’s Institutional Repository and associated responsibilities;
- working on special projects relating to Open Access and Open Educational Resources;
- helping with grant-related activities;
- conducting research;
- other responsibilities as needed.
Selection Criteria: Applications for GA positions will be assessed on a competitive basis considering GPA, recommendations, statements of careers goals and interests, oral and written communication skills, and prior work experience.
Work Hours: 15 hours per week, on-campus, in-person.
Tuition Remission: University Libraries Assistantships offer tuition remission for up to 18 credits distributed over Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 only. (Summer tuition remission is not available)
Stipend: For AY 2023-2024, this assistantship includes a stipend of $4,000 for the first year Graduate Assistants; $4,500 for a second year GAs. Pay is distributed evenly over Fall and Spring semesters (no Summer Stipend available).
