Thinking about education opportunities outside the U.S.?

“I don't think there is a study abroad option that suits me.”

For those of you interested in mastering a second language or immersing yourself in a new academic culture, a semester-long exchange program is for you! St. John’s University has developed institutional partnerships with universities around the world, allowing you to enroll directly at the host institution while earning transfer credits for your major. Explore your major from a different cultural lens while staying on track toward graduation and gaining a global edge in your profession.

“Studying abroad is way too expensive, and I don't think I can afford it.”

You will continue to pay St. John's tuition, allowing you to utilize your financial aid package. Keep in mind, though, that the cost of living will vary based on location and the type of accommodation you choose abroad (apartment, homestay, dormitory).

Visa application fees vary.

“I don't speak a second language.”

Most of our exchange destinations offer coursework in English.

Covid-19 has brought challenges to all travelers. We do our best to keep up with the ever-changing rules that govern student mobility. Currently, we are processing all applications as we had pre-pandemic. Please remember that travel rules are subject to change.

Student Selection

There are a limited number of spaces available for each program; although it's good to apply early, it's not a first-come-first-served process.

When a popular program attracts a long list of applicants, these are the selection criteria:

Students with the highest qualifying GPA will be considered.

Year of study is relevant (depending on the time of year, seniors and juniors will be next up for consideration).

The nominees will be selected by the approving deans from this final list.

Studying abroad as an exchange student is a big decision. You need to be an independent person who can take initiative, find resources, and stay informed.

We look forward to helping you reach your academic and cultural goals through the exchange program; so if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!
