WebEx is a web conferencing application that is available to faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as students. Faculty can use it to hold virtual office hours in their online, hybrid, or even face-to-face classes and collaborate with colleagues at different institutions. Students can use it for collaboration on group work.
Panopto is a tool that gives St. John’s faculty and students the ability to import, record, share, and view searchable videos within their courses in Canvas. Faculty can use Panopto to enhance traditional courses by giving students access to captured lectures, implement a “flipped classroom” approach to face-to-face teaching, or add multimedia content to online classes. Students can use Panopto to create presentations and upload multimedia assignments. Panopto is mobile-friendly, delivering multimedia content to any device.
VoiceThread can be used for creating and facilitating conversations focused on visual media. Using VoiceThread, students may view, upload, and comment on images, videos, presentations, and other media using their webcam, telephone, computer audio, image annotation, or text.
Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom web browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas. When students use Respondus LockDown Browser, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading.
Respondus Monitor is a companion product for LockDown Browser that helps faculty protect the integrity of online exams. Students use their own computer and a webcam to record assessment sessions, without having to leave Canvas.
Poll Everywhere is an audience response tool that uses students’ desktop or laptop computers or mobile devices. Students may respond to live presentations in real-time from virtually anywhere in the world. Faculty can embed polls into PowerPoint and Keynote presentations.
