Here you will find updates from the bargaining table, a timeline of topics discussed and context for decisions made, and resources that connect these efforts to our shared vision for St. John’s future. These negotiations are about more than contracts; they are about aligning with our strategic priorities: Student Success, Financial Health, and Operational Efficiency and Innovation. Every decision we make supports our mission and positions St. John’s for a vibrant future. I ask that you review these documents with the goals of the strategic plan in mind Strategic Plan Reimagined 2025–2028.

We recognize that every faculty member—full-time and adjunct—plays an essential role in advancing student success. Negotiations are a key part of that commitment. While these conversations can be complex, they are critical to ensuring St. John’s remains strong, sustainable, and mission-driven.

Higher education is changing rapidly. Declining enrollment, shifting demographics, and financial pressures require us to think differently about how we operate. Our approach to faculty compensation and working conditions is guided by fairness, market realities, and our responsibility to secure the University’s long-term health.

Together, we are building a university that is focused, forward-looking, and committed to excellence. 

Collective Bargaining Updates

This draft Faculty Handbook is posted to provide transparency while it is being fine-tuned. Our goal is to keep everyone informed and to reinforce that the collaborative and respectful relationship between the faculty and the administration remains unchanged. Therefore, in the next few weeks, faculty members will be invited to review the Handbook and make suggestions before it is finalized.  Please note that you may find some inconsistencies in numbering or formatting.  Any inconsistencies will be corrected before the Handbook is finalized.
