2026 Spirit of Service Award Honorees

Salvatore Barcia, R.Ph. ’79CPHS, ’86M.S., is the founder and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Meta Healthcare IT Solutions, LLC, a company primarily focused on software technology designed to improve clinical workflows for physicians, other prescribers, pharmacists, and nurses.
Over time, he led the expansion of Meta to offer an integrated suite of products for prescribers, pharmacists, and nurses at the point of care. After 25 years as a privately owned company, Meta was sold to a private equity firm in 2016. Mr. Barcia continued to function as CEO and President until 2020.
For the past several years, in addition to his role as a board member of several for-profit companies, Mr. Barcia has served the St. John’s community as a member of several boards, including the Board of Governors; the Dean’s Advisory Board of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; the St. John’s Institute for Catholic Schools; and the Athletics Hall of Fame.

Margaret M. Keane ’81SJC, ’87M.B.A., ’19HON earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from St. John’s University in 1981. During her time in the Management Training Program at Citibank, she pursued a Master of Business Administration degree at St. John’s, earning it in 1987.
After 16 years in various leadership roles at Citibank, Ms. Keane joined GE Capital as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2004. In 2014, she led the initial public offering for Synchrony Financial—and one year later, it completely separated from GE, becoming a fully independent company. Today, she serves as Executive Chair of the Board of Directors of Synchrony.
Ms. Keane has served as President of the Synchrony Foundation and as a member of the board of buildOn, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering urban youth. She currently serves on the University’s Board of Trustees.

Arthur J. Raymond, Ph.D. ’52SJC earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame; and pursued a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the Pennsylvania State University.
At St. John’s, he was inducted into the Roger Bacon Scientific Society, the Skull and Circle Honor Society, Zeta Sigma Pi, and Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges. As a senior, he was business manager for The Vincentian, President of the American Chemical Society, Senior Class secretary, Senior Ball Cochairman, and a member of the Chappell Players and the Glee Club.
Dr. Raymond worked for Wyandotte Chemical beginning in 1957; in 1965, he moved to Sun Oil Company. At Sun, he worked in research for more than a decade before becoming a founding member of Sun’s progressive environmental engineering and public outreach program. He led the program for the last five years of his career.

Professor Chin Ling Wang ’06HON served as a tenured professor and librarian at St. John’s University for nearly 30 years. During his tenure, he led the transfer of the library collection from the Brooklyn, NY, campus to Queens, NY, and founded the Asian Collection — a resource that grew from a few hundred books to tens of thousands of titles spanning Chinese philosophy, history, literature, theology, art, and political science. He was a valued contributor to the Institute for Asian Studies at St. John’s. In 2006, the University honored him with an honorary Doctor of Letters degree.
An immigrant from China, Mrs. Wang built a career as a programmer in the financial services industry during the 1960s and 1970s—a time when computers were still in their infancy, and very few women worked in such a technical, male-dominated field.
In 2006, Professor Wang and Mrs. Wang made a one-million-dollar gift to establish the Chin Ying Asian Library at St. John’s University. They also created a scholarship fund specifically supporting Chinese students majoring in Asian Studies. Together, they were members of The Founders Society and The McCallen Society.
