Welcome to the ACEI Pulse!
Welcome to the ACEI Pulse. I’m Dr. Manouchkathe Cassagnol, the executive director of the Academic Center for Equity and Inclusion (ACEI).
When ACEI opened in 2018, we imagined it as a space to organize scholarly and pedagogical activities that advance St. John's University's commitment to an inclusive and equitable University community. We started the ACEI Pulse to share stories of the people and projects that are contributing to the work of our Center and advancing the University’s mission.
Tomorrow, St. John’s will celebrate the opening of the Institute for Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES). The CRES Institute is a research institute whose principal method of operation is the innovative interweaving of theory and action for the development and engagement of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to addressing the problems caused by systemic racism and the intersecting forms of oppression that accompany it locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.
Together, the ACEI and CRES Institute will play a critical role in St. John’s becoming an antiracist institution. As we prepare to celebrate the opening of the CRES Institute, I invite you to listen to founding director, Dr. Natalie Byfield, as she shares the academic and personal journey that informs her work with the CRES Institute.
Come join in the festivities of the CRES Opening!
