Application Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIPCRITERIA
Admission applicants are automatically reviewed for merit scholarships, but additional application scholarships are also available. Students do not need to wait for an admission decision to apply for scholarships, though only students with a completed admission application on file will be considered.
Catholic Scholars ProgramCatholic Scholars take part in a four-year developmental program that translates faith into action. Prospective first-year students apply for this scholarship, and if chosen will receive a grant of up to $5,000 per year which will be awarded for four years of study. The deadline to apply for this scholarship has been extended to March 15, 2024. Students will commit themselves to faith-based leadership training, service and prayer, and formation of a deeper understanding of what it means to be a leader inspired by the Catholic tradition. Catholic Scholars assume important leadership roles within the community of faith and service at St. John's University in preparation for becoming faith-inspired Catholic leaders for life. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING EXCLUSIONS: Students entering a house of discernment sponsored by a diocese or religious community, or a college seminary or religious community formation program are ineligible to participate in the Catholic Scholars Program at St. John’s University. Ozanam Scholars ProgramThis program provides a select group of scholars with a unique and innovative learning experience. The Ozanam Scholars Program connects small student groups with dedicated faculty to contribute to solving real world problems in local, national and international communities. Ozanam Scholars receive up to a $10,000 scholarship renewable annually for the four-year program. The Program is for first-year incoming students only. The deadline to apply for this scholarship has been extended to March 15, 2024. Students with a submitted admission application can access scholarship applications in their online student portal
Catholic Student ScholarshipSt. John's has a special commitment to preparing Catholic students for ethical leadership. Our Catholic Student Scholarship offers a limited number of awards (based on availability) to college-bound Catholic students regardless of the secondary school they attend, this includes non-Catholic high school institutions who enroll at St. John's University the semester following high school. Students with a submitted admission application can access scholarship applications in their online student portal.
Sister Helen Flynn ScholarshipApplicants for the four-year Sister Helen Flynn-Notre Dame College Alumnae Association undergraduate scholarship must be sponsored by a recipient who received a degree from of an undergraduate program of Notre Dame College (graduation dates between 1933-1971) or Staten Island Campus of St. John's University (graduation dates between 1972-2023.) Sponsors must be a living relative who can write a recommendation letter for the student. The applicant can be a son, daughter, brother, sister, nephew, niece, grandson, granddaughter, first cousin and/or second-generation cousin, niece, nephew, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law. This scholarship is available to incoming first-year students only. Students with a submitted admission application can access scholarship applications in their online student portal. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is January 31st 2024.
