Faith and Service in the City, a week-long residential program at St. John's Queens campus, is an exciting and unique program for high school students. Expert faculty members from the Department of Theology and Religious Studies and St. John’s Catholic Scholars lead this program, which focuses on Vincentian spirituality through an exploration of theology and participation in activities throughout New York City.

The program immerses students in the Vincentian tradition, which focuses on service to those in need throughout the world. Established by St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, their work has continued for over 400 years. In each week-long session, students experience prayer and classroom activities, hone their leadership skills, and reflect on what gives them meaning in their lives. They also participate in service activities that put faith into practice and learn to become Christian leaders who serve others.

We operate on a rolling admissions basis beginning in December 2019. We will close applications when we have accepted 75 qualified candidates or until April 1, 2020. We will maintain a waiting list until June 1, 2020.

Faith and Service in the City is funded by a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment. For more information, please contact Joann Heaney-Hunter, Ph.D., at [email protected].
