St. John’s Bread and Life was founded in 1982. As a ministry of the Daughters of Charity and the Vincentian Fathers at St. John the Baptist Parish, it soon expanded beyond the parish boundaries and grew to be a freestanding not-for-profit corporation.
Today, Bread and Life serves over 1,000 meals daily to hungry New Yorkers and offers a variety of services to its clients.
“Fridays in the Soup Kitchen” offers students and employees a remarkable opportunity to enhance the lives of underserved New Yorkers while enriching their own through Vincentian Service.
Round-trip transportation is provided. Interested employees are strongly suggested to get approval from their direct supervisors in order to perform service during the work day.
