Events Throughout the Year

St. John’s Law organizes events throughout the year for students, faculty, alumni, and the community in support of diversity, equity and inclusion.  Check the calendar for the latest events and dates! 

Some of the recurring highlights during the year include:

Diversity and Inclusion Gala

Diversity and Inclusion Gala Logo

Each spring, the Law School hosts an upscale evening to celebrate diversity in the legal academy and profession. The achievements of diverse alumni are highlighted each year during this signature event.  

St. John’s Law Dialogues

The Ronald H. Brown Center for Civil Rights hosts a St. John’s Law Dialogues each semester to discuss current events and topics of interest with the Law School community. The events are co-sponsored by student organizations, including the Coalition for Social Justice, which is comprised of a diverse group of students committed to addressing pressing issues of concern regarding social justice. St. John’s Law professors regularly serve on panels and students serve as trained facilitators in small group sessions to explore matters of national and local concern in a collaborative manner.   

Admitted Students of Color Events

Admitted students of color are invited to attend and participate in a number of events prior to the start of the academic year. Past events have included a BBQ to welcome new students to St. John’s Law and connect them with faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni in a relaxed environment.  Prospective students of color are also invited to the Diversity and Inclusion Gala to begin networking with peers and attorneys prior to enrolling at St. John’s Law.

Alumni of Color Chapter Events

Throughout the year, the Law School Alumni Association’s Alumni of Color Chapter hosts receptions and other events where our law students can mix, mingle, and network with alumni who work in a range of practice settings.  

Affinity Group Events

The various affinity group student organizations at St. John’s Law host a number of events throughout the academic year, including mock trial and moot court competitions, conferences and symposia, and networking recptions, often together with their affiliated regional and national organizations.

Legal Diversity Events

St. John’s Law hosts various diversity, equity, and inclusion events for the legal community, where legal professionals come together at the Law School for diversity programming, including the MetroLALSA annual conference and the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission annual conference. Our students and alumni are also active members of local, state, national, and international legal diversity organizations.
