Academic Success Fee
As part of their cost of attendance, St. John’s Law students pay an academic success fee each semester that gives them access to integrated bar exam preparation from day one and cost-savings post-graduation. Partnering with bar review leader BARBRI, we offer students:
- Early access to BARBRI’s bar prep program, MPRE study materials, 1L mastery series, and other resources available in bar tested subjects
- Practice questions in each subject tested on the bar exam, drawn from a bank of over 1000 multiple choice questions.
- A comprehensive post-graduation bar prep program at no additional cost
All of this develops practical skills and targeted expertise, so St. John’s Law students graduate profession-ready to pass the bar.
Scholarships
Merit Scholarships
Our admissions team considers applicants for merit scholarships as part of the application review process. There is no separate scholarship application, and no minimum LSAT or GPA requirement. Merit is determined by:
- Academic history
- Standardized test performance
- Commitment to community
- Commitment to the St. John’s Law mission
St. John's Law awards scholarships to outstanding applicants for academic achievement and for merit-based factors aligned with our mission that are considered during holistic review. This includes awards for first-generation college students, applicants who have faced adversity and are committed to their community, and those whose background and/or interest in law school align with the school’s mission and the legacy of our alumnus, Theodore Jones, L'72.
Merit scholarships are unconditional and can’t be forfeited.
Financial Aid and Planning
Financial Aid
Federal Student Loans
If you have financial need, we encourage you to apply for financial aid. You’ll need to complete and submit the Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for federal student loans. You can apply online using St. John’s federal school code: 002823.
External Scholarships
We also encourage new and returning students to seek external scholarships. You can research scholarship opportunities online based on your year in law school, practice area interests, geographical region, and other criteria.
Academic Achievement Awards
Returning students who place in the top 25% of their class at the end of the academic year can receive an academic achievement award that is renewed annually if they stay in the top 25% of their class. Academic achievement awards are granted in addition to merit scholarships and financial aid. You can earn an academic achievement award in addition to a merit scholarship, but the financial assistance you get from those awards will total no more than half the cost of tuition.
