Upward Bound is a federally funded US Department of Education TRIO program that supports and challenges students at Long Island City High School in their efforts to graduate and apply/gain admission to college.
The program is designed to help first-generation and/or low-income students by providing them with individualized learning enrichment and academic instruction, as well as mentoring, college admission and financial aid application assistance, and cultural and social activities.
Students selected to participate in Upward Bound are expected to actively engage in program events and activities. Activities take place after school, on some evenings, and during the summer.
