Chris M. Smith is a partner at DLA Piper LLP. He has significant experience in handling developments, financings, investment funds, acquisitions and dispositions on a national and international level, and has experience with every major type of real estate product, ranging from residential developments to office buildings, shopping centers and hotels. Chris’ practice also includes the representation of individuals and institutional clients in leasing, renovation and condominium development of commercial office space and mixed-use products, as well as real estate foreclosures and bankruptcies.
Chris serves as a member of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, Real Estate Board of New York, American College of Real Estate Lawyers, Urban Land Institute, International Council of Shopping Centers, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York State Bar Association.
Chris has been involved in a number of speaking engagements at industry seminars and conferences on various real estate topics including ground leasing, acquisitions and direct investment in real estate.
