Education That Elevates

Elevate opportunity.

St. John’s University was founded as a place “where the youth of the City might find the advantages of a solid education.” Today, that unwavering mission continues as we prepare students from all walks of life to reach new heights. We are ranked first among national Catholic universities and colleges for student mobility rates by The Chronicle of Higher Education, and 99 percent of undergraduates receive financial assistance.

From flexible learning spaces that allow for a multitude of teaching and learning styles, to state-of-the-art centers and laboratories where students master skills they’ll use throughout their careers, technology is the key to the St. John’s experience.

Our new state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center (HSC) is a prime example of what’s next. When completed in 2024, the HSC will stand as a focal point for professional heath education, research, and service, and will be home to the new Doctor of Physical Therapy program, the proposed nursing program, and other in-demand programs.

Elevate exploration.

A Global University

More than 40 percent of St. John’s undergraduates explore the world through our various study abroad program, many of which are steeped in Vincentian tradition and service opportunities. We also welcome international students from more than 100 countries, giving them the chance to explore our part of the world.

Elevate change.

The University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is steadfast. We will continue to employ practices of inclusive excellence as we welcome and celebrate the intrinsic worth of all members of our community. Our progress makes us an even stronger University. Our recently established Institute for Critical Race and Ethnic Studies is just one example of our pursuit.

Red Storm Pride

We are New York’s team—and our student-athletes take that responsibility seriously. With grit and determination, they succeed on the field of play and in the classroom. While many go on to realize their dreams of playing at the professional level, even more become the doctors, lawyers, executives, teachers, artists, and leaders of this great city.

Elevate hope.

As a Vincentian institution, the University directs its resources of faith and knowledge to combat the root causes of injustice and create paths to a more equitable world. Our obligation and commitment to service lie not only in our active compassion as an institution but in the cultivation of these priorities and values in the members of our community.
