Nursing

St. John’s University’s new Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a four-year program that provides education and instruction to achieve your goal of becoming a registered professional nurse. It is tailored to high school graduates without any prior college experience or credits.

Meet Our Nursing Students

We offer small, in-person classes in a diverse and inclusive environment using innovative technology and evidence-based research for teaching and instruction. Our dedicated and experienced nursing faculty provide personal attention, support, and guidance to help you succeed.

When our new St. Vincent Health Sciences Center opens in Fall 2024, you can practice your nursing skills by participating in simulation scenarios in the new state-of-the-art skills labs and simulation center. Using high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, and standardized patients (actors), you will have a unique opportunity to develop your nursing skills, clinical reasoning, judgment, and confidence in a controlled and safe learning environment. In addition, the College has partnered with several distinguished health-care institutions to provide you with real-life clinical instruction and experiences.

Lastly, the nursing program provides you with a capstone experience in your final semester, allowing you to work alongside experienced registered professional nurses in a preceptorship format to transition to professional practice.

Upon meeting the requirements of the program and graduation from the College, you are eligible to sit for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.’s licensure examination (NCLEX®), which is required for entry into nursing practice.
