St. John's Names Hall of Famer Rick Pitino Men's Basketball Head Coach
One of the most successful coaches in the history of college basketball, Rick Pitino, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, has been named Head Coach of the St. John’s University Men's Basketball program.
During his 35 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Coach Pitino has established a stellar reputation for excellence on the court and a dedication to student-athlete academic success. Coach Pitino, who brings to the Queens, NY, campus an 834–293 career head coaching record, has made 23 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA®) Tournament appearances with five different schools and advanced to the Final Four seven times—a total reached by only six coaches.

Shanley, O.P., President of St. John’s University. “I am excited that this seasoned coaching veteran—who has won at the highest levels and is as passionate as ever—is committed to leading our student-athletes and our program to national prominence. Rick knows BIG EAST Conference basketball and is determined to take and keep the Red Storm program where we know it belongs.”
Coach Pitino became the first coach to take three different schools to the Final Four and the first coach to win an NCAA® Championship at two different schools. With a 54–21 record in the NCAA® Tournament, he holds the third-highest winning percentage in NCAA® Tournament games (.720) among all active coaches. Off the court, he serves as a charitable benefactor for a broad spectrum of worthy causes, often choosing to do so anonymously.

New season tickets are now available by deposit only. Deposits are $100 per seat and place a new account in our seat selection process. There is a maximum of six per account. For additional seats, contact the box office directly. Seat selection will be held at a later time to be determined. The deposit applies to the final invoice once seats are selected. Payment plans will be available. Existing season ticket renewal information will be announced at a later date.
